AND this is what you should be listening to on your way to class

It's 65 Degrees and Sunny outside right now in CHICAGO. Get with it, or leave.

Young Blood (Chiddy Bang Remix).mp3

This is what you should be doing in class...

Everyone take note on this class "doodle" but more like master piece. It is a little bit perplexing but take it for what it is: sick.

Most Unique Map

So this year for my room at school I wanted just to put a giant map on the wall but during my endeavors overseas I encountered the most unique and useful world map ever! Well you might only think so if you are a surfer but the illustrations and creativity is nothing to pass over even if there is a lack of interest in surfing. Anyways enough chatter, check it out.

Interesting song

This remix of William Fitzsimmons "So this is goodbye" by Pink Ganter is inexplicable because it's a depressing song but put into a electronic beat. Weird. I don't know what else to say check it our for yourself. Listen.

Great Remix

Here is a nice remix by Mochi Beats of some recent hits, it's a mix of Two Door Cinema Club's "What You Know", Drake's "Forever", Iyaz "Replay", and Shontelle's "Impossible".

In the spirit of Baleal

Listen to this song by the Avett Brothers

04 At The Beach.mp3

A Little Taste of Baleal Portugal

This summer I was lucky enough to have visited Baleal Portugal for a surf adventure with my two brothers. Baleal is a small fishing village known for its consistent swell and relaxed locals. We spent two weeks living in a surf shack with a bunch of other european travelers and got a chance to really soak in the atmosphere of this low key spot. Above are a few pictures of the beach where we surfed and chilled. I would highly recommend going there and exploring Baleal for yourself, maybe even take a surfboard out for a test drive.

Summer's Closing Out

Currently getting ready to go back to school and start rolling on some more posts. It' been a hectic summer full of traveling and bumming on the beach. Stressful I know. Here is a song to listen to maybe a little late but it might help heal the pain of a seasonal loss.

It's Been a While...

So my only explanation for the lack of posting is what I like to call a mental vacation after the end of a school year. Hopefully you can forgive my laziness but it was a vacation that needed to happen. As compensation I present to you a song to start the official summer awakening of CRI$P; very appropriate for all summer festivities alike. It is a Chiddybang remix of MGMT's kids and I know the song has been exhausted but this one I actually enjoy.

Blazer's Summer Slash Fall Must Have

If you haven't already noticed the lasted tend spark in blazers then you must be pretty slow on the uptake because everywhere I look someone is coming out with their own version. Whether it is the classic navy school boy blazer from J.Crew or a more flashy red blazer by Thayer, everyone seems to be jumping on the band wagon and I like it. The beauty of blazers is that they can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Below are a few blazers that have caught my eye recently:

Wooden Sunglasses?

Straight out of the woods of Portland Oregon is the brand SHWOOD which works with nature to make some pretty crafty sunglasses. Although wood might not be the obvious choice for a pair of sunny g's SHWOOD pulls it off by making classic style frames and using amazing lenses. The lenses for SHWOOD sunglasses aren't just anything, they finish off the product with Carl Zeiss lenses which are some of the best on the market right now. What seals the deal to this product is the price tag considering all are under 100$! What could be better than this? Answer: Nothing.

Accessories are clutch and what better to compliment an outfit than a nice looking watch. Here are a few different brands and styles that are relatively inexpensive all of these options are under a 150 dollars. Not bad for good quality.

More Light Painting

Last night I took a stab at some more light painting. This time I played with the flash and background a bit as well as the bulb feature. Here are some of my favorite shots:

Tried some graffitti script didn't work out too well but I'll work on it.

What's up?

I got angsy here what else can I say.

With this house I thought of Alice and Wonderland when her feet are sticking out of the windows and doors.

Attempt at Light Painting

Last night I attempted to take some 'Light Painting'
photos from my new camera and this is what I got:

The photo above is my first attempt at it. I was shooting with a Nikon D3000 and used Manual Mode, opened the aperture fairly wide (this one was shot at f/5), set my camera to a long shutter speed(10 seconds), and used my cell phone light to scribble with. Obviously not that effective but the evidence is clear enough.

Next I use a flashlight in a darker space, but found that the light from the flashlight was exposing the surrounding area and myself so that is why you can see more in the picture. I attempted to write my name, you can kind of see the backwards B on the left side of the cluster.

Then I got bored and decided to see what would happen if I took a shot of Sheridan in the same settings as cars drove by. I ended up with this which I thought was pretty cool.

Sweet Store in NYC

Article today in the New York Times about a company from the Bronx New York that specialize in custom clothing to match your sneakers. It's a cool article I would suggest giving it a look. Along with the article is a recent song discovery of mine. I think it has a good vibe for Sunday afternoon. Get after it.

Social Primer x Brooks Brothers Bowties

Fashion Blog Social Primer collaborated with Brooks Brothers to create a line of 16 bow ties for the summer. They are all extremely preppy and include an array of vibrant colors and classic patterns that combine to create a plethora of classy ties. The bow ties all include a preppy two tone effect due to different fabric patterns on either side. I love them all I think the worst part of this collection would be choosing one. Here's what I have narrowed it down to:

What could be more crisp than a new bow tie for a summer rendezvous.

Nike Air Lunar 180

These Nikes are tight. Love the Colors.

Bake Sale Today in Chicago

My personal hero and t-shirt entrepreneur Johnny Cupcakes will be in Chicago tonight at 8 O'clock at the Bleeding Heart Bakery on 1955 West Belmont Avenue for The Back to Basics Suitcase Tour 2010.

If you need a little background check, Johnny Cupcakes it is a t-shirt company started in 2000 by "Johnny Cupcakes" himself, a college dropout whose success started from an idea and the trunk of a car. He started off making a few funny t-shirts with cupcakes on them because that was his nickname at work. After getting bombarded with questions about the t-shirts he decided to start to sell them purely out of supply and demand. He would sell his shirts out of the trunk of the band van when he was on tour. Eventually word of mouth led him to a fortunate series of events and in 2005 his success led him to opening up a store in his hometown of Hull, Massachusetts and that success led him to opening up a
shop on Newbury Street in Boston in 2006. Since then he has moved on to all types of apparel and accessories and you can buy just about anything with a cupcake on it.

I encountered Johnny Cupcakes when I was in eighth grade(2005). I was surfing in Hull and saw someone on the beach with one of his shirts and was in awe of how cool I thought it was. So with a little research and a friend of a friend who knew the kid, I got a ride to the store and bought my first Johnny Cupcakes t-shirt(pink with a yellow cupcake and crossbones) from Johnny Cupcakes himself. He was super a nice guy and complimenting me on my plaid shorts(which I probably wore for a straight week after that), signed a postcard for me(which I still have) and off I went, naive of how famous he was to become. Every since this encounter I have been following his success and been obsessed with his t-shirts. He is such a cool guy with a lot of creativity. Below are some of his sweet stuff:

Cheers to Cupcakes. Over and Out.

Warriors of Radness

Warriors of Radness is a relatively new clothing company based out of Los Angeles, California, "Warriors of Radness (WOR) embodies a stylistic point-of-view that is unique to a surf-city lifestyle. From Malibu Surfrider Beach to the multicultural surroundings that make up greater Los Angeles, WOR's philosophical spirit is rooted in an unwavering, imaginative idea that modern beach style should be as diverse and creative as the fun-loving individuals who wear it."

In other words, if you are a beach bum in the summer this is for sure your jam. WOR clothing is unique, colorful and fun, all qualities that I love to see. Check out a few of my favorite pieces from their spring Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 lookbooks:

What a bunch of bros. Later.

Another Staple Spring Slash Summer Shoe

Boat shoes, sperrys, and dockers are all synonyms for the same shoe which just so happens to be a spring and summer must have. Not only are these one of the more comfortable option for your foot but they are also one of my favorite shoes. I love the boat shoe because it looks good on anyone(male, female, adult, child) and can be worn with just about anything(shorts, skirts, sundresses, jeans, khakis, even athletic attire). Her are a few different variants of the same look I am sure you will think at least one version is cute, and if you don't do some exploring because there are millions of options.

1) The first two being the classic Sperry version, both classic colors and styles to go with any outfit.
2) These next two are from Yuketen Spring/Summer 2010 Footwear and are more playful and trendy versions of the Sperry

3) There is also a sneaker variant that can be found by a number of brands and lines. This following are the vans and Sperry versions

4) I wasn't lying when I said there were millions of options, these are some more funky pairs by Sebago

And the list could go on and on but I will spare you some time. Enjoy.
